» What is the Working Holiday Visa?

» I'm not 18 yet. I'm going to turn 26, 31 or 36. Am I still allowed to apply?
Depending on the country you want to go to, you must be between the ages of 18 and 25, 18 and 30 or 18 and 35 inclusive on the date the application is received.
If you are turning 18, send your application a couple of days before your birthday (not earlier) and if you are about to be « too old » to get the WHV, make sure you send your application soon enough. Check the processing times to get an idea of the right time to send it.
» What if my passport is not valid for my entire stay?
If you apply for a one-year visa and you hold a passport valid for only 6 months, you may have trouble when going through customs.
» Do I have to subscribe an insurance?
As a WHV maker, you must sign up for an insurance plan as you won't be able to access local health insurance programs. Insurance is very important.
Don't forget that medical expenses may be very expensive abroad. Proof of an insurance plan will be required in order to apply for a WHV and to enter the country.
» What are the photograph criteria?
Photographs should :
- measure 45mm x 35mm.
- be in colour.
- be taken against a clear and plain background.
- be of good quality and not framed.
- be printed on normal photographic paper (scanned photograph are not accepted).
- be full face.
Please note that you must not smile or wear sunglasses, hat or head covering (unless it is worn for cultural or religious reasons). Your face must not be covered in any case.
» I must provide a bank statement. What must appear on it?
Most of the time, you must provide a bank statement to prove that you have a certain amount of money. Your first name, your last name, your bank coordinates and the date must appear on this document. The name and the signature of the bank representative must appear too.
» Do I have to wait to get my WHV before buying a plane ticket?
Yes ! You definitely have to make sure that you will get your WHV before buying a plane ticket and booking an hostel.
» Can I extend my stay when my WHV expires?
The WHV is usually a once-in-a-lifetime experience, but some countries will allow you to extend your visa or to get another WHV.
